Aaliyah Dana Haughton burst into fame in 1994, after she dropped her debut album Age Ain't nothing but an number. Aaliyah Dana Haughton was just 15 when the album became Gold. R. Kelly heavily influenced the group and helped bring her into the spotlight. She collaborated in 1996 with Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland for her second album One In A Million which featured the hit number one single If You Only Knew. With the release of this work Aaliyah won international acclaim for her performance as an R&B performer. She starred with the legendary martial artist Jet Li in the romantic-action movie Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the film Romeo Must Die, spotted her at an awards ceremony. The actress is the very first generation of Indian-American to be born in Connecticut. Mann is an abbreviation of her first name in marriage, Mankad. Aarti Magnumdar, her professional name. She also uses Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Her acting career began as a minor actor in TV and film performances, but her fame grew during the middle 2000s. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. The actress has been featured in commercials for big companies like the international auto manufacturer Volvo. She currently lives with her family in Los Angeles along with her wife, son and daughter. She also pursues her acting career.
